Regardless of the old Disraeli saw: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.” it’s always wonderful to see stats in action. This is a refreshed version of the Social Media Revolution video, with updated numbers showing the continued growth and impact of social media on the world. It’s not as profound or deep as some of Hans Rosling’s TED Talks but it sure wakes you up to the new age we’re all wandering through with a thunderstruck expression on our mugs.
The video was put together by Erik Qualman in support of his book Socialnomics.
Cheers.

Very cool. Can’t believe the 1 out of 8 couples married met via social media stat though. What year of marriages? Where did he get that one from?
For all I know these stats could be pulled out of his ass but the pretty pictures looked cool.
Actually, if you follow the link to the Socialnomics web site: http://socialnomics.net/ – he lists his sources at the bottom of the post with this video.
One of the very neat things about these disruptive media is that it is information based; the aggregation and analysis of information in near-real time allows us to watch and perhaps foresee with greater accuracy (and less hindsight) just where the hell all this is leading.
Takes some of the fear out of leaping off the edge of the cultural cliffs to cross the abyss before us.
Cheers.
P.S. And I know more and more folks who met online, married and are quite happy with their lives together. Used to be rare and unique – not so much now.
