I have just successfully completed upgrading my WordPress software for this site, which should make it much easier for me to completely fuck things up in the future.
In all seriousness, WordPress is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone considering running a blog or any other type of web site.
They even have a cool [...]

Robert Newman’s “History Of Oil”
This is a long video (45 min.) of a very entertaining and informative one-man stage show entitled: “History Of Oil” written and performed by a fella named Robert Newman who could possibly be described as a steam-punk proselytizer but is obviously so much more. Go visit his site to find out more about [...]

Dusty Zombies
Puppeteers are a strange lot - and Matt Ficner is no exception. This talented guy has waaaay too much time on his hands; and what seems to be an abiding obsession with zombies.
Have a gander at this delightfully weird “karaoke” version of “Dust In The Wind” as sung by a chorus of the rotting [...]

Monkey + Rhino = Meme
I found this courtesy of a post from Xeni Jardin over at BoingBoing - it’s part of a set of early 20th century photographs from The George Eastman House which have been posted to the Flicker Commons.
This particular one caught my eye: Monkey On Rhino.
You can’t tell me we’re not on to something here. [...]

Dr. Horrible
Okay - it’s not as cool as Elvis and the monkeys - and I doubt the delicious Felicia can dance like the Russ Meyer Bikini Choir - but who cares? It’s the first act of Joss Whedon’s “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”.
Cheers.
P. S. Read the history of how this all came about during the Writer’s [...]

Elvis Costello - Monkey To Man
Hey - it’s Elvis - it has monkeys - it has juggling - shut up and enjoy:
There were no car keys but a whole band made up of guys in gorilla suits works for me. And I think the dancers are very talented.
Cheers
Thanks, Violet!

One More Thing …
Cripes - I couldn’t last a single day - but I also couldn’t not post about this:
The film Fanboys has been restored by the Weinsteins back to its original version after the true fans rebelled against the dark side.
The fans win.
Cheers.
P. S. It’s all Fred’s fault that I just had to post one - [...]

Ontario Privacy Commissioner Tells Google/YouTube To Fight Viacom
Yowzah!
Just saw this BoingBoing post from Cory Doctorow informing us the Ontario Privacy Commissioner issued an open letter to Google encouraging them to challenge the recent court ruling wherein they must provide Viacom with all their user data so Viacom can better assess how much of their copyrighted material has been viewed.
In the letter the [...]

G8 Pushes For Acceleration Of ACTA Approval
TorrentFreak reports that at the summit in Japan, the G8 members agreed to get the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) ready for implementation by the end of the year. The agreement, pushed by multimillion dollar companies, will open the doors to a digital police state, much to the pleasure of the MPAA and RIAA.
You may recall [...]

Who Owns What On Television
Over on Neatorama you can find a handy graphic post showing the collected logos of the various U.S. broadcasters and cable companies - grouped under the handful of corporations who own and control them.
It’s worth a look.
In his book Media Monopoly, author Ben Bagdikian was concerned (back in 1983) that only 50 corporations controlled the [...]

Fuck You Rogers - Part 3
Global News ran a great piece on the absolute idiocy and unmitigated greed of Rogers and their fucked-in-the-head rate plane for the iPhone.
Have a look at it here and do what everyone else is doing:
• Sign the petition.
• Don’t give Rogers your money.
• NEW: Leave a message on the Rogers site to let them know [...]

Fuck You Rogers Update
The link to ruinediphone.com, aka fuckyourogers.com,
has been attracting a lot of attention with close to 30,000 angry citizens signing the online petition expressing their outrage over the usurious Rogers/Fido voice and data plans for the iPhone in Canada.
While it is doubtful the delivery of the petition on July 11 will actually result in Ted Rogers [...]
