Apple iTunes U

Just a quick post about another aspect of Web 2.0 that is freaking out old school (literally) thinkers: knowledge.
There’s lots of amazing knowledge bases across the web, Wikipedia being one of the better known. It’s great to see Apple stepping up to the info-matrix plate and offering iTunes U, where you can download […]

Explaining Nixon

The other night I found myself tryng to explain Richard Nixon to a 10 year old boy.
It’s hard.

We were watching part of the Tom Hanks produced mini-series From The Earth To The Moon, chronicling the U.S. space race in the 1960’s from the Mercury through the Gemini and to the end of the Apollo programs. […]

Canadian Government Takedown of YouTube Video

This is priceless. Michael Geist reports that some dim knobs in the Canadian House of Commons served YouTube with a takedown notice of a parody video that used footage of Robert Rabinovich appearing before a Parliamentary committee.
Geist says it better, so here’s his blog entry. Be sure to check out his site for […]

Funny Beer Ad

Yes, I’m procrastinating but I am also managing to get things done too. Honest. No really. Seriously.
In the meantime, here’s a funny beer ad that Fred sent to me:

Charles Nelson Reilly

Charles Nelson Reilly has passed away.
That may not mean much to a lot of you but to me he represented an entire era of American television and theatre.
Funny, intelligent, talented and way over-the-top gay way before it was cool to be so.
The New York Times has a good obit on the guy.
Goodbye, sir.

Mills! What the hell are you doing?

Actually, I had planned to get a lot done today but I got distracted with fixing my Forum (and you can blame Mark Achtenberg for that) and now it’s 11:30 already.
Sheesh!
With any luck I’ll finish shooting some stuff and get it posted before the end of the day. But if I were you I […]

The Forum

I screwed up massively with the Forum and somehow managed to delete any registered users as well as blocking any new users from registering. Smooth move, Ex-Lax.
It’s fixed now. It’s ugly but it works. I’ll make it pretty later.
Cheers.

Open Source Star Wars?

Star Wars is going Open Source?
Not quite but it sure is cool to see LucasFilm provide clips (about 250 of ‘em) online to fans with the specific intent of allowing them to edit, mix and mash up however they please. Lucas was notorious for suing the pants off anybody who even breathed on his […]

Disney Sues Vegetable

Well, okay, alright, Disney isn’t really suing a vegetable. They, in fact, do not have any legal dealings with vegetables; not counting Walt when he’s taken off ice one day out of the year.
But I’m sure there is a young lawyer somewhere just champing at the bit to prove himself by successfully bringing litigation […]

DRM As Metaphor

I was prompted to think of this solely because I had a really neat picture I took out back from where my mother lives and somehow thought it was an image that should be shared.
A metaphor is also an image, albeit one created with words, co-mingling or juxtaposing ideas to create a more complete or […]

Double Digit Education Research - or - Pull The Other One

Found this through Digg, as reported in the Daily Mail.
Forget about checking the bumps on a person’s head to figure out of they are a genius or a total tard. Researchers in the U.K. have determined they can predict a child’s ability in math and literacy by comparing the lengths of their fingers.

Here’s what […]

I Want One

Okay, this has nothing to do with media or copyright or freedom of speech. I just want one.

I found out about this from Gizmodo. It’s a stainless steel cell phone flask. No, it doesn’t really work … as a phone … but I want one.
I have a real cellphone but it’s broken […]

Toobah!

It’s actually a piece called Fnugg and it reminded me of some other awesome tuba playing I’ve heard on CBC Radio’s Music and Company, where I listen to Tom Allen every morning.
Why am I posting this here? Why am I posting this now?
Procrastination. Pure and simple. Enjoy.

Jim Jenson

I’ve seen this before but BoingBoing posted it this morning so I thought I’d direct you to it as well.
It’s part of a 1974 episode of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, featuring a very surreal bit of business from The Muppets. If you watch all the way through you’ll see Jim Henson and […]

Getting Duckies In A Row

Sometimes things just start to fit together and work, you know what I mean? No? Who cares.
Over the long weekend (it was a holiday here in Canada-land) I was musing and scratching and sketching on the Ceegie stuff that I’ll be shooting today. I like drawing little cartoons, I do it all […]
